![]() Ideally I would actually only rate this 3.5 stars, but I guess I will give it the benefit of the doubt and round up a half star due to my lack of knowledge/skill/expertise. However, I think there are DEFINITELY some better options out there for those who are complete beginners/generally artistically clueless like me. I looked at a ton of different fashion sketchbooks on here before just giving up and purchasing this one because the price was good and I liked the silvery shiny cover.Ī lot of the reviews for this are stating how it’s a great sketchbook for beginners (or for children). 2013 English edition by Pantone LLC (Autor), Tamar Daniel (Autor) 314 ratings See all formats and editions Diary 16. I was actually about to purchase a different fashion sketchbook and some gel pens when I saw this one in the ‘related products’ and thought I should leave a review. The PANTONE Fashion Sketchpad: 420 Figure Templates and 60 PANTONE Color Palettes for Designing Looks and Building Your Portfolio (Pantone x Chronicle Books) Diary Illustrated, 20 Aug. I’m embarrassed to show pictures of my ‘artwork’, but I guess I will add a couple to this review whenever I feel like digging it out and photographing it. It would have been really nice if it had come with maybe a sketching pencil or something like that, that was more specifically suited for sketching and outlining on the thin paper without bleeding through or smearing so badly. I didn’t even know what type of drawing materials would be most suitable to use, so I mainly just improvised with gel pens, nail polish (yes, nail polish), and a black sharpie to outline. I didn’t find any of the information or resources included to be of any particular help or usefulness to a beginner, either. This book is probably much better for a more experienced/advanced artist, illustrator, or designer. Also, I found it nearly impossible to use both sides of any of the pages because they always bled through to the other side and/or smeared onto the next consecutive page. I know they’re supposed to be light enough to not show up when copied or whatever but I would have preferred at least some of them to be a bit darker or more well defined, especially the ones that were in the more complicated sideways angle poses and such. I am terrible, TERRIBLE at drawing and I found many of the templates, figures, poses, and proportions to be quite difficult to use (and see!). I got this mainly to play around with and doodle in. ![]() With that in mind, I thought this sketchpad was pretty decent (at least for the price), but I will definitely be trying out a different one now that this one is starting to get filled up. Considering that the only other mode I have used to attempt to draw fashion is on a blank piece of printer paper, I don’t really have anything viable to compare this Fashion Sketchpad with. ![]()
